Luftwaffe 2^nd Model 1937

The second model 1937 Luftwaffe dagger is completely different than the first model 1934. The metal fittings are made from cast aluminum. The pommel on the dagger is ball shaped and bears the swastika on both sides of the pommel. Sometimes shows the swastika a gold color. The grip of the second model Luftwaffe varies in color, from white to orange and has a wire wrapped around it. The crossguard is made very beautiful with on the obverse the Luftwaffe eagle in flight clutching a swastika in his talons. The 41 cm plain blade is secured to the hilt by the pommel. The steel scabbard has a pebbled design. On the scabbard there are two suspension bands complete with swivel rings, to put the hangers on. The second model Luftwaffe has no motto on the blade.

The hanger exist of a double strap, detachable fabric hanger constructed of blue grey facing with silver lines in it. The buckles of the hangers show heavy oak leaf design. The dagger has a portepee, which was for flying personnel only. The portepee is aluminum and is 23 cm long.

Again just like with other daggers,  you can find the second model Luftwaffe with a different grip (Ivory) or an engraved blade, but we only describe here the standard model.
