SA ROHM DAGGER

The SA Röhm dagger is a standard SA dagger with the Röhm inscription etched ( In Herzlicher Freundschaft Ernst Röhm) on the reverse blade. Ernst Röhm, the leader of the SA and SS until june 1934, authorized around 100.000 daggers to be made and distributed among SA members  who were in the SA since 31th december 1931. On the 30th of june 1934 Ernst Röhm was imprisoned and later murdered by members of the SS. Röhm was accused of treason in an alledged coup d'etat against the government. After this date all these SA Rohm daggers had to be destroyed or the inscription had to be removed. Some inscriptions had only the Röhm name removed (rare) and some daggers still have the complete inscription (very rare).

Common makers were Eickhorn, EP&S, F.Dick, Henckels, Wusthof, Herder, Aesculap...As these daggers were made before the RZM control no RZM marks should be found on a legit SA Röhm dagger. The fittings should be nickel-silver and not plated as were the later SA daggers.
