Army Para BADGE in real silver, MARKED + photo
RARE ORIGINAL WW-2 ERA, YOU ARE BIDDING ON A .900 SILVER JEWELLERS MADE WW2 GERMAN ARMY PARA BADGE. IT WAS PURCHASED IN FRANCE IN 1966 FROM A RETIRED LEGION PARA WHO GOT IT FROM A GERMAN. For auction also the owner's photo who was awarded this badge. His name is Leopold Wakolbinger. IT IS WELL WORN BUT OF A GOOD QUALITY AN DETAIL. IT HAS A FRENCH STYLE PIN ON THE BACK. SIZE IS: 62mm x 40mm, EAGLE IS 48mm BEAK TO TAIL. The badge has # "43" (it is mean 43 awards!! Detlev in a price Guide shows 66 awards). ON BACK OF EAGLE "AB" AT TOP OF WREATH, AND "900" ON SIDE OF WREATH.  
The badge was offered to all members of the Army Parachutist group who accomplished five jumps and passed a qualification test. German paratrooper units were - next to certain SS units - considered the most feared elite units in the German army. Most notably the units fought successfully in Holland, Kreta and also in Italy in the fight around Monte Cassino.
